Name Ambra Sutherlin
Hometown Montrose, CO
Fun Fact has travelled to 17 countries and volunteered in Peru building composting toilets and doing hands on construction.
Ambra Sutherlin has 14 years of experience in Commercial Architecture/Design and Green Building. She is a LEED AP BD+C and has managed Commercial LEED projects. She recently completed a certificate in Sustainability Management at Colorado University Boulder and interned at the City of Boulder for the Environmental Action Division.
As an Energy Advisor, Ambra is dedicated to helping local businesses to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and create better working environments, while also educating businesses on the larger energy goals for Boulder County.
Name Collin Tomb
Hometown Salt Lake City, UT
Fun Fact Collin was once a Mexican Folk Dancer and plays banjo.
Collin Tomb worked for five years in Boulder green architecture firms before coming to Boulder County to pursue her interest in lowering barriers to energy efficiency in small- and medium-size businesses.
She enjoys working one-on-one with business owners, and taking this experience to the County's energy efficiency goals. She is most interested in gathering real-world examples of communities that are reaching their sustainability goals.
Name Eliza Kovnat
Hometown Rochester, NY
Fun Fact Eliza has lived four months or more in four different countries.
Eliza Kovnat has over five years of experience in both the conservation and sustainability fields. She has helped communities implement local agriculture, reforestation, and adaptive ecological management efforts as well as climate change action plans in both the United States and Northern Canada. Eliza holds an MS in Sustainable Development and Climate Change.
Eliza is thrilled to be serving the public by supporting local businesses in implementing energy efficiency, zero waste, and water conservation measures. She enjoys helping businesses save money and reduce their resource use, while also helping the county reach its overall sustainability goals.
Name Elizabeth Montalbano
Hometown Oklahoma City, OK
Fun Fact Elizabeth moved to Vail, CO from Oklahoma in 2006 on a whim. The mountains were the inspiration behind her desire to pursue an environmental education and a career in sustainability.
ELIZABETH MONTALBANO came to Boulder County after working with sustainability focused non-profits in the Vail Valley and Denver. She completed the Environmental Policy and Management graduate program at the University of Denver with a concentration in Environmental Management and a certificate of advanced study in Energy and Sustainability.
Elizabeth is excited to have the opportunity to assist Boulder County businesses with reducing the amount of waste sent to the landfill.
Name Leigh Cushing
Hometown Storrs, CT
Fun Fact In 2011, Leigh conquered a major fear of heights by rock climbing to the top of a 300 ft. mountain. She is now often found honing her skills at the climbing gym, or taking weekend warrior trips to scale mountains near and far.
LEIGH CUSHING came to EnergySmart after almost four years with the nonprofit Eco-Cycle. She has experience in working with local city and county officials, businesses and residents in areas such as Zero Waste event planning, facilitating community campaigns and business sustainability outreach.
Leigh is passionate about business sustainability, and is excited to work with local businesses to help them save money, save valuable resources and help the County work towards its Zero Waste goal.
Name Lily Thaisz
Hometown Encinitas, CA
Fun Fact If she could, Lily would live underwater. Perhaps that why she feels most at home when she's SCUBA diving. She also has a cat named Chicken and lives with a three-legged dog named Porge.
Lily Thaisz came to EnergySmart after five years of managing sustainability consulting projects with Natural Capitalism Solutions. She has experience working in business sustainability implementation, water and energy conservation, sustainability education, ISO 14001 certifications and composting. (Lily became a Master Composter at age 12. Thanks, Mom!)
Lily moved to Boulder in 2008 to experience life in the mountains. Expecting to stay only a year, she was happy to find that her new home was invested in sustainability and filled with almost everything she loves—all it is missing is an ocean. Lily is excited to work locally to help Boulder County become a model for the rest of the country.
Name Sarah Linke

Fun Fact Sarah enjoys cooking, gardening and spending time with her Beagle pup Molly.
SARAH LINKE previously worked as a contractor to the U.S. Department of Energy monitoring energy efficiency grants for the weatherization of low income housing. She recently completed her MS in Environmental Policy and Management with an emphasis on Energy and Sustainability from the University of Denver.
Sarah is excited to be a part of the Boulder County team and she looks forward to developing sustainability initiatives within the Boulder County business community.
Name Zach Swank
Hometown Dewittville, NY
Fun Fact Zach started formal employment at age 11 as a newsy, singing songs on the street corner to sell newspapers.
ZACH SWANK came to Boulder County after overseeing the operations of the sustainability focused eGo CarShare for several years. As operations manager, he ran the day-to-day operations, achieved a 25% fleet expansion, added a new revenue stream, led a major pricing overhaul, and improved internal management. Previously, Zach helped corporate clients establish sustainability initiatives at Natural Capitalism Solutions. Zach first saw the power that businesses have to solve social and environmental problems as a Peace Corps Volunteer helping three local entrepreneurs build an eco-tourism lodge. He knew then that he would spend his career enabling businesses to achieve their maximum positive impact.
