Lafayette residents eligible for energy incentives

Special incentives for energy efficiency upgrades have been made available to residents in Lafayette.

A $100 limited-time bonus rebate, as well as efficient LED lighting or programmable thermostats, is being offered on a first-come, first-served basis to assist Lafayette homeowners to save energy and money. If this special incentive is combined with other EnergySmart and Xcel rebates, residents may enjoy up to $450 in savings.

The city of Lafayette, the Lafayette Energy Sustainable Advisory Committee (LESAC), and Boulder County have partnered to offer the additional $100 limited-time bonus rebate, thanks to a Boulder County Sustainability Matching Grant program. Rebates are available for projects that keep the heat out this summer, including insulation and attic sealing, basements and walls, whole-house evaporative coolers, whole-house fans, and efficient central air conditioning unit replacements.

"Less than five percent of Lafayette residents have taken advantage of the valuable EnergySmart service. By leveraging grant money for this program, LESAC intends to increase incentives and engage more residents," Curt Cheesman, city staff liaison to the LESAC committee, said in a news release. EnergySmart helps homes across Boulder County become more energy efficient and will manage the limited-time offers available in Lafayette.

EnergySmart has already assisted more than 12,820 homes in Boulder County communities.
