Boulder officials announced Friday that there are no more SmartRegs rebates available for 2012 after giving out $160,420 in upgrade assistance this year.
The rebates -- designed to help defray the cost of complying with the city's new SmartRegs energy-efficiency standards for rental property owners -- will be available again in 2013, but the amount and structure of the rebates have not been announced.

Reichert family will receive $20,000 worth of energy upgrades
Boulder County, Colo. – John Reichert and his family received a pleasant surprise when the Boulder County Commissioners and EnergySmart staffers visited to award them the Grand Prize in the EnergySmart Home Energy Makeover.
The Home Energy Makeover grand prize, valued at approximately $20,000, includes a new energy efficient furnace, air sealing and insulation upgrades to the attic and crawlspace/basement, an energy efficient water heater, cooling system upgrades, and $4,000 to use for recommended energy upgrades of the homeowner's choosing.
BOULDER -- Cara Owen of Longmont is one of four Boulder County homeowners who won second-place prizes in EnergySmart's Home Energy Makeover contest.
Prizes included a new energy efficient furnace, home air sealing, insulation upgrades and $1,500 for a recommended energy upgrade of the homeowners' choice.

Boulder County, Colo. – Four lucky Boulder County homeowners received a pleasant surprise today when EnergySmart staffers showed up to award them with $10,000 worth of home energy upgrades.
The four homes announced today won equal second-place prizes in EnergySmart's Home Energy Makeover contest. The prizes include a new energy efficient furnace, home air sealing and insulation upgrades, and $1,500 to use toward a recommended energy upgrade of the homeowner's choice. Each winning home was randomly selected from all entries of homes needing these upgrades.

Due to high demand for EnergySmart residential services, maximum rebate levels for eligible upgrades will be reduced in October.
Currently, residents are eligible for up to $1,000 per home and up to $500 per qualifying upgrade. Beginning on Oct. 15 that level will be reduced to $700 per home, with a maximum of $350 for major upgrades.

The Boulder County Commissioners and EnergySmart program staff hosted the first EnergySmart Business Awards on Tuesday at the Hotel Boulderado to congratulate businesses for their achievements in energy efficiency.
Businesses that have participated in the EnergySmart service were invited to submit applications to apply under three different award categories: Energy Savings, Innovation, and Business Strategy. A fourth award was presented to contractor for exemplary service.
